Women's World

Where do we start?  Keep it simple.  Women's drinking isn't the same as men's drinking.  Women drink in different ways and for different reasons than men.  Nothing new here.

Women know they didn't choose to drink to excess because they wanted to do that. It might have started out that way, playfully, but it ended up that something inside  forced the craving on them.  And then you can't stop anymore.

Women often drink for feeling of inadequacy, loneliness, frustration and depression. They try to use alcohol or drugs to cope with the problems and stresses of life. Women usually are successful in hiding the extent of their drinking... for a while.

It's time to say goodbye forever to the belief that psychological problems cause alcoholism. If you are predisposed to alcoholism then you become an alcoholic.

There are way too many men and women in AA who did not have traumatic childhoods or traumatic events happen to them.  Yet they are alcoholics anyway.  Most men and women who are in recovery will agree that from the first time they drank or used drugs they knew it was exactly what they were looking for all the time.

Women show the amazing resiliency that they are capable of masterful tricks to hide their drinking. Physically hiding the liquor or drugs is an art form for women.  It's also a necessity. Women usually have complex responsibilities in life - kids, work, relationships, often balancing it all in a state of constant financial jeopardy.

Women usually drink alone, and they often slowly die while drinking alone. Shame and blame are particularly risky for women. They avoid them at all costs. Most drinking or drugging women become quite adept at subterfuge.  Until it doesn't work for them anymore. Or they get noticed.

Pink Cloud Therapy offers women complete confidentiality as they consider and begin their journey of abstinence and healing. No one has to know unless you want them to know.  This is a safe place to talk about what you are really experiencing.
