Once Upon a Time
One Day at a Time (ODAT). You have heard this forever. What people in recovery from addiction to alcohol or drugs know is ... it isn't just a saying - it's a way of living.
Seriously. ODAT shifts how people respond to their lives. It isn't easy to hold off projecting into the future - whether it's for a positive or negative outcome. Seems counterintuitive doesn't it? You are in a heap of trouble and the best advice you get is ... one day at a time?
Well, people in Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous do exactly that. And it seems to work for them. Consider the difference. To do what you can now or worry about what is happening or what you can do about it.
This is a good example of what kinds of things might happen after you stop drinking or drugging. By putting ODAT into your thinking, everything changes immediately. It's magic.
And this isn't the only slogan you will learn and apply in your early recovery life. You will explore what these mean in your counseling sessions at Pink Cloud Therapy. You will, little by little, find remembering them will shift your thinking into a more positive, hopeful path.
Explaining and then applying and accomplishing the work of early recovery work isn't easy. Learning how to think and plan in sobriety isn't easy either, but it is possible. People in recovery switch negative ways of thinking and acting with more positive ways.. over time.
In so many ways, getting out of using alcohol and drugs to manage life is a long, strange trip. But Pink Cloud Therapy is here to help you.
